I'm Trying to Use the RGB LED, but It's Not Lighting Up
The RGB LED requires specific power configuration depending on your board model.
Power Supply Method by Board
-
ProS3, FeatherS3, FeatherS2, FeatherS2 Neo: The RGB LED is powered via LDO2, so you need to enable LDO2 before you'll see output on the LED.
-
TinyS3, NanoS3, TinyS2: The RGB LED is powered via an IO pin, so you need to set that to high before you'll see output on the LED.
-
TinyPICO: The RGB LED is powered via a LOW side switch (P-FET) via an IO, so you need to set the IO LOW to enable the LED.
Check the included pinout cards to identify which specific IO pin corresponds to your particular board.
RGB LED Types Used
Two different LED types are used across Unexpected Maker boards:
- APA-102 RGB LED (TinyPICO boards and FeatherS2): Uses CLK and DATA pins
- WS2812 Compatible RGB LED (all other UM boards): Uses a single data pin, also known as a Neopixel
