Light Crystals
Light Crystals is an ESP32-S3 based RGB LED acrylic display, featuring a 9x9 RGB LED matrix and a host of other features that ships as a kit.
Light Crystals uses custom-cut clear acrylic pieces arrayed in a 9x9 matrix that sits vertically over the RGB LED matrix to create a visual feast, unlike a regular RGB matrix display. Add matte black acrylic and a black 3D-printed case, and you have a vibrant and stylish display that looks amazing in any setting.
Sound Reactive by Default
Light Crystals ships with audio reactive firmware that responds to sound picked up by the built-in I2S MEMS microphone. The firmware source is available on GitHub, and there is also a pre-built WLED binary with the Audio Reactive usermod enabled.
OMGS3 Powered
Light Crystals ships with an OMGS3 board as its brains -- the smallest fully-featured ESP32-S3 board at just 25x10mm. It includes 8MB QSPI Flash, 2MB QSPI PSRAM, and full wireless connectivity.
Kit Assembly -- No Soldering Required
The kit comes with a pre-assembled PCB, pre-cut acrylic parts, 3D printed base (PET-G) and all screws and standoffs. No soldering is required.
Battery Support
Light Crystals is designed to be powered via USB, but you can connect a battery. There are solder pads on the bottom of the PCB for battery wires. Keep in mind there is no power button, so the unit cannot be turned off when powered by battery.
You can monitor the battery voltage from the I2C Fuel Gauge on the OMGS3, and when the voltage is too low, turn off the RGB LED matrix power and deep sleep the ESP32-S3 via code.
